20 Aug What to look for when choosing a piper?
When you choose a Piper for your big occasion, you should look for the following:
Smartness/presentation/promptness and quality of piping.
When choosing your music a good Piper will always guide you, however, a special tune to you which is your wish, the Piper should be able to learn that tune for your big day.
The Piper should always make himself aware of the surroundings he is playing in.
Whilst playing for your guests he stands back from them, not over them, the Piper is there to entertain you and your guests and this can be done better from a distance. This is very important as some of your family and guests will congregate outside the main door. If the Piper is also there then no one can have any conversation without shouting.
On Piping in the Bride & Groom to their position at the top table, the Piper should always propose a toast to the bride and groom. The Bride stays standing handing over the Quaich to the Piper, when the toast is complete the Piper should always ask for permission to leave which is granted from the beautiful bride.
I will always do my upmost to grant these wishes.
